Review: This film is a real action adventure with plently of tense "edge of the seat" "nail-biting" action drama from start to finish. The pace is almost relentless, only slowing occasionally to introduce the characters or develop the story. The story itself is often ridiculous and the characters shallow. But this film is more about action scenes than plots or characters and in that regard the film succeeds. Instead of plodding from one action scene to the next the film shifts from one dilemma to another. So while one climber is hanging over the abyss by their fingernails another is swinging from a rope that's about to break! The special effects and stunts are spectacular but often over-the-time; but that's what special effects are for! No one's going to get an Oscar from this one but Chris O'Donnell put in a good performance and is backed up well by Bill Paxton, Robin Tunney and Scott Glenn. Overall if you like a good action adventure this is "Worth-a-Watch". Reviewed by Niall Quinn, PremierMovieReviews |
