Plot Summary

the other corner, representing all the material people is George Wade

multi-millionaire property developer.
When George offers Lucy a job as his legal representative she
accepts the offer in the hope that maybe she can finally make a difference
by working on the inside.
Review
This is a lightweight romantic
comedy that has very few surprises and the thinnest of plots.
It is all very predictable from start to finish and the story
offers nothing new. While it
has its funny moments it doesn’t fall into the hilarious category and
doesn’t quite fill the quota of “big-laughs”.
Both story and humour lack a little sparkle that could have made
this ordinary movie better.
The movie does have the warm
feel-good element and you can sit back with the feeling that no matter
what happens, everything is going to be okay in the end.
If you enjoyed the likes of Miss Congeniality,
About A Boy,
Legally Blonde
or Sweet Home Alabama
you will probably find this movie enjoyable and entertaining enough.
Hugh Grant is playing a
familiar character. He has
become stereotyped as the ditherer who is hopeless at relationships.
But he does do this type of character very well and he is, once
again, likeable in the role.
Sandra Bullock is getting
plenty of practice in romantic comedies.
She too is likeable enough even though her somewhat clumsy
character is a little tiresome at times.
Having seen Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock interviewed together they
seemed very natural and comfortable with each other.
Somehow in the movie their relationship looks like
“just-good-friends” rather than lovers.
The Bottom Line:
Weak story, lacks sparkle, but pleasant enough lightweight
romantic comedy.
