Plot Summary

Ashley Judd plays Jessica Shephard a
tough San Francisco police officer who has been promoted to the homicide
unit. Her first case starts when the badly beaten body of a man is
discovered. She recognises the man as someone she had picked up in a
bar. Things start getting a little weird when another body is found
and turns out to be another of her one-night-stands. Jessica finds
that she is the number one suspect in her own homicide investigation...
Review

With a strong cast of Ashley Judd,
Samuel L. Jackson and Andy Garcia this police thriller should have
potential but a good cast alone doesn't make a good movie. The story
is lacking and as a thriller there isn't much suspense or tension. It is not the type of movie that you will become engrossed in and I found
myself somewhat disinterested as I watched.
Things go from bad to worse and the
ending is silly and a big anti climax. There is no big chase, no
exciting shootout and the inexplicable 'twist' doesn't help! What should
have been 'edge-of-the-seat' stuff, ended with a whimper.
The main characters are either
unconvincing or under developed. Ashley Judd's character isn't that
likeable or even that believable. Andy Garcia plays Jessica's police
partner but there is little or no background to the character and he
appears to be just going through the motions. The same could be said
for Samuel L. Jackson who plays the Police Commissioner. The lack of
character development makes it difficult to really get involved in the
story and without action and suspense the movie badly needed some
likeable, convincing characters to make things more interesting.
Bottom Line: You might be
happy enough with this movie if you rented it on video or dvd but as a big
screen movie it's poor.
