Plot Summary
Lady Lara Croft (Angelina
Jolie), the Tomb Raider, is back. While diving close to the coast of
Greece, she finds a lost temple where Alexander the Great stored his most
precious treasures. The most valuable piece is an illuminating orb,
which is a map to Pandora's Box. Mercenaries snatch the orb from her
as the temple is collapsing. They intend to sell it to Jonathan
Reiss (Ciaran Hinds), who will use it to find Pandora's Box and kill
millions of people. M16 seek her help and she teams up with an old
boyfriend in order to regain the orb and prevent Jonathan Reiss from
finding Pandora's Box...
Review
Lara Croft takes
us on an international adventure to save the world. We get taken to
beautiful locations in Asia and Africa. We get to hang out at Croft
Mansion in England with Lara, her personal butler (Chris Barrie) and her
personal computer guru (Noah Taylor) and enjoy some of the pleasures of
such wealth.
The adventures are
akin to Indiana Jones. The high tech gadgets and modes of transport
and the arrogance of Lara Croft's character are akin to James Bond.
This film is
fantasy so don't expect reality here. Remember this is a film based
on a computer game. If you enjoyed Lara Croft: Tomb Raider
then all the ingredients of that film can be found again in this film with
a little more of the incredible and a little more of a love interest that
goes by the name of Terry Sheridan (Gerald Butler).
Angelina Jolie is
strikingly attractive and carries herself beautifully as Lara Croft.
Her outfits are cool and sexy, as we would expect.
This film has got
a lot of poor reviews. The script is weak and the film could be
vastly improved with some more original lines. But I say chill out
and enjoy the show. No need to be jealous just because it is a rich,
attractive, cocky female lead character that gets to go on all the cool
adventures and show off a lot! The boys have been doing it for
years, now it's the girls' turn to have fun and leave the boys to be the
sidekicks! I say bring on more female action heroes.
Bottom Line:
Fun fantasy adventure movie that's well worth watching.
