Review

This romantic comedy tells a modern
fairytale in the style of Cinderella. A young girl from a farming
background falls for a fellow student not knowing that he is a Danish
Prince who normally lives in a castle with his parents, the King and Queen
of Denmark! It is a frivolous, sugary tale that has little substance
but it's harmless fun and the fairytale dream of meeting Prince Charming
and becoming a princess will appeal to a young innocent audience.
The characters are likeable enough
but Luke Mably's unconvincing attempt at a European accent is hard to
ignore and can be a little annoying. Julia Stiles plays Paige, a
confident, focused student who has her sights set on medical school.
She doesn't want any distractions but things are going to get a little
weird!
As far as the comedy goes there are
no big laughs but it is humorous in a light hearted way. Perhaps the
funniest bits are when the Danish Prince arrives in the American College.
He is like a fish-out-of-water and perhaps more could have been made of
the cultural differences between himself and his American classmates.
Bottom Line: Harmless
lightweight frivolous fairytale.
