Dear me! This one is the
second in the series of remakes of the critically acclaimed Japanese
Grudge films and is a total let down compared to the first one. It's
chaotic, predictable, and after the initial couple of moments when we see
the black-haired-white-faced-wonders scare the living daylights out of
anyone who hangs around too long it's about as scary as Liz Taylor
ordering another wedding cake!

This time round we
have three unconnected and confusing strands as we initially see three
schoolgirls go into the old house for a dare, and come out of there
faster than Joan Rivers on her way to a plastic surgeon… But
in meddling in something they shouldn't, old wounds are opened up
(pardon the pun).
Enter Amber Tamblyn
who turns up as Audrey Davis the sister of Karen (Sarah Michelle
Gellar) who didn't do a bad job in the first film but who must give
the shortest appearance in cinematic history in this one! Audrey is
also drawn into the sinister web (but is sadly another graduate from
the Old Oak Tree school of acting - Pinocchio could have put in a
better performance).
Incredibly we then
see a family from Chicago (who must have had nothing better to do)
become victims of the Japanese version of the Adams Family (yes these
suckers can travel the world now). |
I won't even bother to
continue any further… The Grudge 2 isn’t even worth a DVD watch,
and it is such a let down, as the first one wasn't half bad…
In a word – Dire.
