Mr and Mrs Smith

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie play married couple John and Jane Smith. Their relationship which has become stale is built on lies and pretence. Neither of them know that the other is a professional assassin working for rival firms. They live an ordinary suburban lifestyle reduced to small talk and arguments over new curtains. Things change when they are both sent to assassinate the same target and when the truth comes out their bosses tell each of them that they must kill their partners.

Mr and Mrs Smith could be described as  War Of The Roses meets True Lies and while it might be a mish-mash of action, adventure, romance and comedy it's fun and sexy. It starts off slow but once John and Jane discover the truth about each other the pace picks up and there is plenty of action as they attempt to shoot, knife, bomb or drive over each other.

The action is far-fetched with loads of shoot 'em up scenes but it's fun and the situation lends itself to plenty of good comic one-liners. As Mr Smith runs after his wife with a gun and she tries to run him down he shouts "you should never go to sleep on an argument". These guys need to work on their communications skills!!

John and Jane were always attracted to each other but after 5 or 6 years of marriage they don't really know each other. The passion has disappeared and life has become boring. It is only when they discover the truth that they are forced to look at each other differently. Brad Pitt is smooth with a casual easy-going style while Angelina Jolie is sexy, making them a great on-screen couple who don't have to try too hard to look great. Perfect for the part of Mr and Mrs Smith.

Bottom Line: Starts slow and turns in a chaotic action movie with loads of far-fetched shoot outs and fights - great fun!
