Review
The men in black are back and
so is the formula from the original movie. There are no surprises in this
sequel and this gives the feeling that we have been here before.
The first time around the ideas and humour were fresh but
everything about this movie is too familiar and predictable. It is very
much a spin off of the original without adding anything new.
The humour is a bit “hit and
miss”. Nobody was rolling
around laughing and the biggest laugh was when “Agent Frank” the
talking dog was giving his out-of-tune rendition of “I will survive”!
The special effects are well
done but the action scenes need a bit more excitement especially the
ending that was a bit lame and needed more fireworks to beef things up!
Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones
work well together. Will Smith’s quick talk and wisecracks counteract
Tommy Lee Jones’ deadpan expression and straight talkin’, but the
gags, while amusing, are never hilarious and the wisecracks have lost
their witty edge.
Men
in black might be back but not with a bang!
