  Plot Summary & Review

A little gem of a movie directed by Jason Reitman that tells the tale of Juno (Ellen Page) an offbeat and intelligent sixteen year old who finds herself  with an unplanned pregnancy.

Her boyfriend the equally quirky Paulie Bleeker (Michael Cera) is totally unprepared for the news and Juno who appears to be so much in control, (or is she?) decides to make a rather unconventional decision and seek out a couple who would like to adopt their unborn child.

Enter Vanessa and Mark Lorring (Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman) a professional couple who seem picture perfect on the surface but all is not what it seems and before you can say baby shower they all start out on the journey together with some surprising outcomes and consequences.

Juno is a funny, heart-warming film, with some real poignant moments too - it's about love, life, rites of passage and coming of age.  The script is tight, sassy and fresh and the soundtrack fits the whole thing perfectly.  I could write a lot about this movie but I'm trying to keep it brief as it's one of those movies that you need to see for yourself to really appreciate how good it is.

Some great support from J. K. Simmons and Alison Janney as the supportive parents who oversee proceedings with great humour and much love, and everyone is exceptionally well cast.  But the film belongs to Page, I was really impressed with her in Hard Candy, but she's taken it all to a different level here - I predict a huge future for this girl - she's dynamite on screen.  This film is a breath of fresh air, something totally different - go watch it!

In a word - Delightful.
