Hannibal Main Cast:
Director: Ridley Scott Rating: 1 Star - Not worth the time. Plot Summary: Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) is an intelligent, dangerous madman who likes to kill people. He also likes to eat his victims or at least part of them! He has escaped from prison and is living in Florence, Italy. FBI Special Agent Clarice Starling (Julianne Moore) has been assigned to track Lecter down. Hannibal's only living victim Mason Verger (who was horribly disfigured by Hannibal) is also trying to track down the mad doctor and has offered a $3 million reward for information that leads to his capture. Meanwhile in Italy Hannibal has been recognized by Inspector Pazzi (Giancarlo Giannini)... Review: This is the much-awaited sequel to "Silence of the Lambs" and it wasn't worth the ten year wait! "Silence of the Lambs" was an intelligent, clever, gory suspense thriller that frightened millions with its portrayal of evilness, violence and sinister mind games. "Hannibal" is disappointing and has none of the ingredients that made it predecessor such a classic. It has none of the intrigue and intelligent of its predecessor and there is little or no suspense. The so-called "scary" scenes are more disgusting that scary and the whole sorry mess ends ridiculously. Only occasionally does Anthony Hopkins portray the sinister evilness of Lector that was so evident in "Silence of the Lambs". Julianne Moore, who in fairness to her makes a good effort, replaced Jodi Foster who played Clarice Starling in "Silence of the Lambs". It was a good decision by Jodi Foster not to return to the role in spite of the huge amounts of money being offered. Don't waste your time on this pretentious nonsense; stay at home and rent "Silence of the Lambs". Lasting thought: This film just proves again that very few sequels can live up to their superior predecessors. Reviewed by Niall Quinn, PremierMovieReviews |
