Director: Dominic Sena Rating: 2 Stars. Only if you have nothing better to do. Plot Summary: Randal "Memphis" Raines (Nicolas Cage) is a "retired" legendary professional car thief who is trying to live honestly having left his life of crime behind him. He then learns that his younger brother Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) is attempting to take his place but the reckless Kip has bitten off more that he can chew and finds himself in trouble with a particularly nasty mobster. Randal returns to help his brother..... Review: This remake of the 1974 movie of the same name is surprisingly disappointing. The story is weak and unoriginal and the action scenes dull and unexciting. An opportunity to add some excitement and suspense in the car stealing and car chase scenes was missed. What could and should have been tense exciting moments were flat and uninteresting. We've seen so many "car chase" movies that anymore will need a good original story to back them up. This story just wasn't good enough or perhaps not told well enough. There seemed to be an effort to get across the respect and love that the characters had for these rare and valuable cars but it didn't really work. Nicolas Cage, Robert Duvall and Angelina Jolie are far too good for this movie and all their talent could not save the movie from being silly and unoriginal.
