Plot Summary
Set on a wonderfully coloured coral
reef, two fish, Marlin and Coral are expecting their off-spring to hatch.
Disaster strikes when Coral and 399 of their eggs are eaten by a predator.
Only one egg is left and Nemo a little orange fish is born. Again things
go wrong when Nemo is caught in the net of a scuba diver. He ends
up in the aquarium of a dentist from Sydney. With the help of a friend,
Marlin goes in search of his son. Meanwhile the spirited Nemo is planning
his escape from the aquarium...
Review
Toy Story, A Bug's Life
and Monsters, Inc all came from the Pixar computer-animation team,
so when making Finding Nemo they really had something to live up to.
The people at Pixar have done it again and this movie certainly won't
disappoint! Finding Nemo is a brilliantly colourful, magical
adventure that will enthral children and entertain adults. Much of the
story is set
underwater and a vivid, shimmering, computer-animated world of beautiful coral
and vibrant fish has been created. You get the feeling that you are
actually underwater yourself!
One aim for the makers of animation
movies is to entertain children and adults. This movie has achieved this
and will appeal on the two levels. Along with the colourful graphics
the movie has a simple story that children will love while adults will be
entertained by the jokes running through the movie which are witty and
clever. There are also a lot of references to other movies that kids will
not pick up on but adults will find this funny and there is a novelty in
recognizing them. References to Jaws is an obvious one!
If you thought, like me, that fish
are fairly characterless creatures, you might be surprised! In the movie
each fish has its own character and the voices are cleverly matched to
enhance each personality. Fish might not be as cuddly as the creatures
from Monsters, Inc but there are plenty of "Nemo" toys to be bought
in the shops!
The Bottom Line: Brilliantly
made and very entertaining.
