Review: This is an interesting thriller with many different elements.  Robbery, kidnapping, murder, detective and psychological thriller rolled into one.  There are several strands to the story and it is only towards the end that these strands come together and the story unfolds.  The audience is kept guessing until near the end and this keeps things interesting.  However, while the story is well told and acted it does lack any real tension and you won’t find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat.  This is particularly true of the ending that lacks the dramatic climax that was needed.

Michael Douglas is convincing as the successful psychiatric expert but it was obvious that he was heavily made-up to knock a few years off his age.  It looks like he's going to have to start playing the older characters soon!  Famke Janssen plays his wife but doesn’t get much of a part especially as she is laid up in bed with a broken leg.

Sean Bean was credible as the brutal gang leader who is prepared to kidnap and murder to get the priceless gem.

The best performance was from Brittany Murphy who plays Elisabeth, the disturbed young woman, who spent much of her life in psychiatric hospitals.  The first time we see her in the movie she is more than a little scary!

This is a movie that might not have you sitting on the edge of your seat or biting your nails but it is interesting and entertaining enough to warrant a watch!
