by night…
Review
You’ve heard of Spiderman and
Batman but who is Daredevil? Daredevil
is another comic-strip superhero. Just
think of a “watered down” version of Batman with more or less the same
outfit! Daredevil’s
hypersensitive hearing and sense of smell give him his own special radar
system and he jumps and swings from building to building as he tracks down
the evildoers of New York City.
If it all sounds a bit familiar
that’s because it is! Unfortunately
not only have we seen it all before but we've seen it done a lot better.
The Batman movies and the recent Spiderman
had better stories, dialogues and special effects.
Daredevil has nothing new to offer and the whole movie is at best
routine and at worst boring. The
story is well signposted and there are few surprises to the predictable
ending that obviously leaves the way open for a sequel.
Action scenes and special
effects don’t impress and the only glimmer of hope was offered by the
over-the-top performance of Colin Farrell as the evil character,
“Bullseye”. At least his
Irish accent got a few laughs!
Ben Affleck played Daredevil
but he was a little deadpan. Unlike
Colin Farrell he didn’t look like he was having fun!
The female interest came in the shape of Jennifer Garner, who
played the kickboxing beauty, Elektra Natchios.
The
Bottom Line: If you like
comic-strip movies like Batman and Spiderman
you might enjoy this, but if you don’t, give it a miss as you won’t
find anything new here.
