Plot Summary:  Small town girl, Violet, moves to New York to follow her dream of being a successful song writer. She finds that life in the Big Apple is tough and impersonal, and she gets plenty of "knock backs" from those in the music industry. Stuck for money Violet takes up a job in the Coyote Ugly Bar; a loud raucous bar where the barmaids are expected not only to serve drink but to dance on the counter. There are no fancy cocktails in this bar, just beer and whiskey and you definitely won't get a decent pint of Guinness! The Coyote Ugly Bar is the solution to Violet's money problems and her song writing starts to take second place. She meets Kevin a charming, hardworking Australian who tries to keep her focused on following her song writing dream...

Review:  The story is predictable, the plot vapour thin, the dialogue terrible and the acting mediocre. Some of the scenes are so "corny" that you can't help but cringe. Very little in this movie is realistic, there are just too many flaws to forgive. All the problems or conflicts that Violet encounters when she moves to New York are just so conveniently solved.

On the plus side the sound track is excellent which helps the entertaining raunchy dance routines in Coyote Ugly Bar.

Best acting come from John Goodman (Violet's father) but he too struggles with a terrible script.  I think we will be seeing more of Piper Perabo who plays the central character Violet but lets hope she can prove herself in something a little better than this.

Lasting thought from this movie:  Follow that dream.  Go out and sing your song, write your book, paint that picture...
