Plot Summary:  Sharon Pogue (Jennifer Lopez) is a tough Chicago Police Officer.  She is estranged from her family who blame her for having had her wife-beating father arrested.  Things start to change when a mysterious man, who simple calls himself “Catch” (Jim Caviezel), saves her from being shot when she is out on the streets protecting the good citizens of Chicago.  Sharon is intrigued by Catch who is more than a little odd and very secretive.  It becomes clear that something connects the two of them…

Review:  This love story starts off well enough but soon becomes slow and uneventful.  Less than half way through the film you will know the plot and be able to predict what is going to happen.  The film would have benefited from some sub plots and while it did touch on the subject of domestic violence this was not really developed.

The characters are not interesting enough to compensate for the lack of plot and it is not easy to relate to or become involved with the characters.  Catch looks like a homeless stalker and the two of them make a very unlikely couple.  The whole relationship has an unrealistic feel to it.  Towards the end a few unnecessary flash backs confirm what the audience already knows and at this stage all intrigue has long faded.  Each character discovers that they have built a wall of protection around their hearts and these walls come crashing down all to easily as the movie wraps up.  All very neat and tidy!

There was no call for great acting from either Jennifer Lopez or Jim Caviezel.  It would be nice to see both of them in something a little more substantial.

It is a simple inoffensive predictable film which you might appreciate on rainy winter’s day but don’t make a special trip to the cinema.
