Plot Summary

Scientists discover that a rare
flower called the Blood Orchid holds the secret to immortality, and with
the key to the fountain-of-youth in their grasp they are guaranteed to
make a fortune. The rare orchid only blooms every 7 years and grows in the
jungles of Borneo. A group is gathered for an expedition deep into the
jungle where they will encounter poisonous spiders, crocodiles, leeches
and, of course, snakes. In fact they are about to come face to face with
the biggest pythons imaginable.
The members of the expedition
hire Captain Johnson (Johnny Messner) and his rickety boat to take them up
the river. One things for sure, there will be less of them on the way
back!
Review

This sequel to the original movie
Anaconda tells a very similar story. In the original an expedition
was also going into the jungle for some reason or another. It doesn't
really matter why. The thin storyline only provides a reason why this group
of people are going to become dinner for some hungry super-sized snakes.
The question is who is going to get the chop (or bite) first in this
typical monster adventure movie. There are loads of movies of this type
and you know what to expect as soon as you start watching. The formula is
always the same and the acting doesn't require much talent - look scared,
run and scream your head off! Some reviews have described it as a B-Movie.
The B-Movie, or B-Picture, got its name when cinemas used to show double
features. Quick, cheap movies were made to be shown with the main feature.
The description in this case is probably fair but unfortunately there is
no A-Picture to go along with it.
Having said that if you watch
this movie with low expectations there are some tense "he's-behind-you"
moments. There are also a few good action scenes and some beautiful aerial
views of rainforests, rivers and waterfalls (the movie was filmed in
Fiji). It also has some funny parts, although some of the humour is
unintentional!
None of the characters in the
movie make any real impact. You can sit back and see who's next without
feeling too sorry for them! Some of the computerised snakes have better
parts!
The Bottom Line: Weak,
cheesy monster movie, we've seen it done before only better.
