American Pie II Main Cast
Director: James B. Rogers Rating: 3 Stars. Worth a watch. Plot Summary: Jim (Jason Biggs) and his friends Oz (Chris Klein), Stifler (Sean William Scott), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) have just completed their first year at college and are home for the summer holidays. They decide to rent a beach house and take part-time jobs to pay the rent and buy beer. The only intention for the summer holidays is to hangout, party and of course chase girls. Jim gets a call from foreign student Nadia who is coming to stay. This gets him all uptight and anxious as his last sexual encounter with Nadia didn’t go very well. As the summer comes to an end the lads plan a big party to mark the end of the holidays… Review: Following the success of American Pie it was inevitable that there would be a sequel. The humour is very much the same in both, coarse and crude. But unlike American Pie, which at least had a bit of a plot, the sequel has little or no story. It is obvious that the story was built around the gags instead of the gags coming from the story. Many of the jokes have followed on from the first movie and if you haven’t seen it you might be at a disadvantage. American Pie is probably as good as teen-sex-comedies get and the same formula (and sometimes the same jokes) was used here again. Nonetheless there are still some very funny parts in the movie. Surprisingly, for a sequel, the entire original cast are back and without a good story the characters need to be likeable and amusing. The funniest characters are Jim, Stifler, Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) and Jim’s Dad (Eugene Levy). Jason Biggs who plays Jim has the biggest part and he plays the awkward, anxious teenager successfully. His best scenes are with Alyson Hannigan who plays Michelle the “geeky” girl who has countless “band camp” stories. The Stifler character who is devoid of any tact or morals is hilarious. He says and does exactly what he wants without any consideration to anyone. Jim’s Dad played by Eugene Levy is also very funny. He tries too hard to be cool and understanding to all his son’s misdemeanours but only ends up embarrassing his son even more. If you enjoyed the first helping of American Pie you'll enjoy a second slice but if ‘lewd’ is not your idea of humour give it a miss.
